CAC Update! Help Save CAC!!!

Hello! Well it looks like when I updated the blog it permanently changed things so I can no longer post live links. As I mentioned in my previous post, that makes doing the daily job lists pretty much impossible.

So here's where things stand...

I can move the blog to its own domain and run it through Wordpress. This should solve the link issue.

But that's not the only issue...

I've mentioned before how CAC is a labour of love that I do because I believe it in...I believe in art and artists and the ability to survive as an artistic professional...and I believe in you!

But things have changed in my life. Even though I have tried to get CAC supporting itself financially, I haven't yet succeeded...honestly it wasn't my first priority. Now it HAS to be my first priority. My partner lost his job which means my modest income is not quite paying the bills. This also means I don't have the money right now to move CAC to its own domain (which means no job lists until that happens).

I'm now faced with the choice of getting CAC monetized or shutting it down.

I really, really want to keep CAC going, so I'm asking for your help.

First, I've added a "Donate" button to the sidebar where you can help out with whatever you have (you can also click here to donate). Want to donate $20? Awesome! Want to donate $5000? Even better! Anything and everything helps!

I've also tried other means of monetizing CAC...
* Sponsor Ads
* A small fee to post a listing on the site (individual listings, not the daily jobs listings)
* Adsense (on a good week I get one click)
* Amazon Affiliates (it was adding this that screwed up the blog, but I think it will be a helpful resource -- so hopefully if I get a new blog set up I will be able to still use it)
* I also tried memberships in the past that offered additional services and programs.

So far, nothing is working.

If you have any ideas or are willing to help out financially, I'm willing to listen and thankful for the help! CAC@DesireeO.com

Anyway, that's where things stand. Thank you to enveryone who has emailed to offer their support and hopefully I will be able to update again soon with news that things are all worked out and moving forward!

* * * * * * * * *

* UPDATE: 05/10/10 - With the help of the awesome CAC community, the website issue may be worked out. However, there's still the money issue. CAC needs to support itself financially, so that's what I'll be working on next.

Again, if you're able to donate any amount of money, it would be unbelievably helpful! If you'd like to donate, you can use the button on the sidebar or just click here.

Or if you're interested in supporting CAC through a Sponsor Ad, click here for more info.

Thanks again and I'll be updating soon with more info!

CAC is on hiatus

Hi everyone! After last week's craziness, I realized I'm not able to handle CAC right now while still fulfilling my other commitments and artistic passions (in case you don't know, I run everything about CAC by myself). I've decided to put CAC on hiatus.
-
I had to do this once before and received many wonderful suggestions on how to keep CAC running, but honestly none are viable for this situation.
-
So I hope you all have a wonderful time with your art in the coming weeks and I'll update as soon as I know for sure what's next for CAC & CMC.
-
Thanks again,

Canada Arts Connect *Update*

Hi everyone!
-
I wanted to post to let you know what's been happening with Canada Arts Connect.
-
First, I had a few issues with the site and while trying to fix them I messed things up quite horribly. I now have everything back to how it originally was -- thank goodness!
-
Second, I've had an opportunity come up that prevents me from doing the daily job postings (which take quite a bit of time each and every weekday morning). I thought I had someone willing to take on the responsibility of these posts while I would continue to handle all other posts (and everything else that goes along with the site). Unfortunately, that fell through.
-
I know some of you have expressed interest in writing for CAC and might be willing to take over the daily job posts -- and thank you for that! The problem I have is that with CAC being such a young site (only a few months old), I don't have the revenue to pay anyone.
-
As you may know, I have an issue with people not paying writers for their work (even though I do agree that there are some exceptions to the rule). It just feels sort of hypocritical of me to ask someone to take on such a huge responsibility for no pay. Maybe I'm being too much of a stickler here...I dunno.
-
Anyway, I'm still trying to figure out what to do next, but as soon as I do, I'll let you know!
-
Oh, and the twitter account and email were deleted in a moment of despair when I couldn't get the site back up and my writer had bailed. I was ready at that point to just give up, honestly. But so many of you have been emailing and contacting me on my personal twitter account to ask if everything is okay, I felt I couldn't let go yet. So thanks everyone! :) If I sort this out I'll put both the twitter account and email back up soon.
-
If you'd like to contact me right away, you can email me at info(at)desireeo(dot)com or you can find me on my twitter account at http://twitter.com/DesireeO (@DesireeO).
-
I promise I'll do my best to figure this out as soon as I can. And sorry for all the confusion and inconvenience this may have caused...trust me, I'm right there with you! ;)
-
Thanks again everyone!
-
:) Desirée

Feature your art on Canada Arts Connect!

'High Park' by Ryan Hayward (www.myspace.com/ryanhayward).
-
I've been thinking the daily job posts look a little drab. I mean, seeing all those job openings sure does brighten your day - but why not add a little art to liven up posts on a site for artists?
-
Instead of using random clipart, I thought this might be a great opportunity to showcase the talented people who drop by the site every day!
-
So send in your images (info on how to do that below) and each day I'll choose a new masterpiece to include with the daily job listings (which are seen by hundreds of art pros each day) with artist info and a link.
-
Anyone can send images - from photographers to painters to accessories designers to landscape artists. If you've created an incredible piece of art and can send it as an image, I'd love to feature it here on the site! (You have to be living in Canada, sorry!)
-
For instance, check out the awesome piece above, 'High Park' by the very talented Ryan Hayward (www.myspace.com/ryanhayward).
-
If you would like to submit your images...
-
Send an email with up to 3 images (per month) to
info@CanadaArtsConnect.com with 'Post Art' in the subject line.
-
* images must be sent in jpeg format.
* try to keep images between 300x200 pixels to 500x400 pixels in size. If you're not sure about sizing, just ask.
-
In the email include:
* your full name.
* where in Canada you live.
* your website link (if you don't have a website I can include your email address).
* the title of each image (clearly mark which title goes with which image).
* make sure to say in the email that it is okay to use the images on Canada Arts Connect.
* and if you're on Twitter, include your @ name.
-
If you have any questions feel free to contact me to ask!
