Independent Clothing/Accessories Designer seeking Part Time Intern

I'm a small independent designer with a fast growing clothing and accessories line, looking for a hardworking, pleasant and enthusiastic person to help me grow my line! This is an internship position with very flexible hours, I would love to have some help anywhere from 2-3 days a week, 12-6pm. I currently have one intern helping me out 2 days a week so you would be working with both of us some days and just myself other days. Currently my studio is located in NDG in my apartment, however I will be moving into a larger shared studio with other artisans within the next 5 months. To see a little more about the line and the style of workI am doing, check out my site here: www.iheartnorwegianwood.etsy.com

There are big things in the works for the line, as it's been picked up by Topshop (Oxford Circus, London) for this fall, is currently stocked by Free People (part of Urban Outfitters) and has recently been picked up by stores in Paris, Singapore, Tokyo, Hong Kong and more! Come be part of something fun and exciting, I promise I will make it a friendly and fun interning experience!

Jobs you will be helping me with:
- basic sewing (both hand and machine)
- basic jewelry making
- organizing supplies
- coming along on supply shopping trips (within Montreal) if this is something you're interested in learning more about
- helping with photoshoots
- packaging orders
- cutting out garments
- creating line sheets
- some file organizing, but very minor
-
Jobs you will NOT be doing:
- getting me coffee
- taking my dogs for a walk
- picking up my drycleaning (come to think of it, I don't even really HAVE dry cleaning)
-
These jobs will depend on your unique skill set and the skills you would like to develop. I believe internships are a two way street, so in turn for you helping me, I of course want to help you build up your resume and improve the skills you will need to work further in the fashion industry. I've worked within the mainstream fashion industry for over 8 years at various companies including Silver Jeans, Industry Clothing, Manager Jeans and MX Jeans so I'm more than happy to answer any questions you may have and help you along with your career, it's all part of the trade off.
-
Skills necessary for the job:
- willingness to learn new skills
- basic computer skills, further skills such as Illustrator/Photoshop, Word, Excel, etc a bonus
- attention to detail
- basic sewing skills (basic handsewing and machine sewing)
-
OF NOTE** Since I am currently working out of the home I feel it's necessary to mention I have 2 dogs, one small Boston Terrier and one large Chow/Labrador mix. They are both very friendly, but if you are terrified of dogs this may not be the best option for you. Once the studio is moved into the Mile End the large dog will remain at home and the small dog will be in the studio.

Looking forward to hearing from all you amazing young Montreal designers in training! If you're interested please send me your cover letter/resume and let me know what days you would be available, thanks!
-
best,
Angie
