Alberta Opera Musical Theatre for Young People is celebrating 25 Seasons of providing inspiring original musical theatre to young audiences. When it began in 1984, Alberta Opera toured traditional opera around the province. Today the company creates musical theatre adaptations of fairy tales and takes them to schools and theatres across Alberta and British Columbia. Last year alone there were 450 performances – bringing musical theatre to over 120,000 children in Western Canada.

Reporting to the General Manager, the Tour Coordinator is responsible for the overall organization of Alberta Opera’s tours to schools and theatres in Alberta and British Columbia, as well as providing administrative support to the general manager, artistic staff, and stage manager. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, organizing and maintaining a master touring calendar, preparing contracts, liaising with schools regarding booking requests, administering the tours on a daily basis, communicating with the stage manager regarding schedules, arranging mail-outs, and preparing tour statistics and reports.

The ideal candidate:
Completed a post-secondary program in arts administration, or commensurate experience; Excellent communication skills (both written and oral); Strong project management skills and attention to detail; Strong computer skills in Word, Excel, email, and comfortable using Apple software; Ability to contribute and work effectively as part of a small team; Strong time-management skills; Enthusiastic and outgoing, able to effectively represent the organization to educators, students, presenters and artists; Prior experience working in the arts an asset; a passion for the arts essential!
